Our 2012 end of the year music review continues with an award called, The Best New Music That I Had Never Heard. My music friend Gerard from the Netherlands was nice enough to turn me on to some music from his country. I can honestly say that I am really enjoying all of the music but my favorite so far is a song called Liefdesliedjes by a group called De Jazzpolitie (from what Gerard has told me, the song title translates into Songs of Love). Let’s listen….

As I have mentioned to Gerard, the song reminds me a little of Mark Knopfler but at the same time it is unique. The instrumentation is amazing with all kind of interesting things going on in the background. You really need to listen to the song on headphones to truly appreciate it. As an example, there is a little bass run around 2:08 that just knocks my socks off. I promise to share more of the music from Gerard during the coming year.
